Sony has been doing exceptionally well this year with the previous release of their flagship Xperia smartphone.  The company has been at a great momentum in markets like Japan, and now they are continuing their efforts to stay ahead of companies like Samsung and Apple.

According to a report by Bloomberg, Sony will unveil its new Xperia series smartphone before IFA next month, on September 4.  The IFA kicks off in Germany on September 6.  In order to keep pass other companies, Sony is stepping up its game by including imaging technology developed from its cameras and ultra-high definition.  The ‘X-Reality’ picture-enhancement chips developed for Bravia TVs and sensors for its Cyber-shot cameras will be included in the smartphone.

The new Xperia smartphone is codenamed ‘Honami’.  Rumored specs of the smartphone are 5-inch full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixels), a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, a microSD slot, a 20-megapixel camera and 2,700 to 3,000 mAh battery.  Apple uses Sony’s camera sensors in its smartphones, so Sony will definitely bring up its game to a whole new level.  As far as sound goes, Honami is expected to be equipped with liquid magnetic stereo speakers plus a WALKMAN chip.
