More layoffs hit BlackBerry with the possibility of takeover flying around

blackberry-logo-wallpaper1According to a new report from The Wall Street Journal, another round of layoffs have hit BlackBerry.  Things are constantly going downhill for the Canadian company, and this time, their sales team has taken a hit.  According to a Blackberry spokesperson, we get confirmation that several sales team members have been let go.  The spokesperson states, “I can confirm a small number of employees were laid off today.”

Earlier, we started seeing reports that people at BlackBerry have been started to let go, and now almost half of BlackBerry’s sales team has been dismantled.  There are also several rumors going around that there may be a possible takeover bid coming from Prem Watsa’s Fairfax Holdings.

Perhaps these layoffs are occurring because of a takeover coming soon.  Prem Watsa’s Fairfax Holdings will most likely be looking to reorganize the entire business, hence why the layoffs are occurring at such a fast rate.

Things in previous years have not been looking good for BlackBerry.  The Canadian smartphone maker continues to struggle as other companies continues to steal more business from BlackBerry.  Even BlackBerry Messenger may get shown the cold shoulder when it gets introduced on Android and iOS.  Other messaging services like Viber, Kik and WhatsApp have been providing service to millions of users around the world, and BlackBerry continues to bleed.

Are things slowly coming to an end for BlackBerry?  Or is there still hope?
