Samsung Galaxy S5 may debut as early as January 2014

SamsungGalaxyS410:40 AM – Samsung has seen record profits, which has a lot to do with the success of the Galaxy S4.  Looking at modern demand, the S4 has fallen as the demand for other smartphones such as Apple’s iPhone 5s increases.

Due to this issue, Samsung is looking to introduce the next Galaxy S5 flagship phone as early as January 2014, according to a new report from South Korean site Navar (via CNET UK).  Even though there are several features in the S4 that are very attractive, such as AirGesture, AirView, Smart scroll, Quick Glance and floating keyboard, these have not been able to continuously attract buyers to purchase the S4.

The Samsung Galaxy S III and Galaxy S4 each debuted in the second quarter.  This time around, Samsung is looking to debut the S5 earlier in order to save itself any bigger problems that might rise in the future.  Currently, slow demand for the S4 has had a negative impact on Samsung, but according to the source, the company is now looking to change that with new features.

In terms of what the S5 may feature, the report says that a 64-bit eight-core Exynos processor will debut, with a 16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization.  Previously, Samsung has confirmed that 64-bit system is already in the works for future Samsung devices.  Much like how Apple is facing issues with apps crashing on the iPhone 5s because of the 64-bit chip, Samsung may face the same issues in the beginning.

Previous Samsung flagship devices have featured plastic housing, however with the S5, that may change.  Rumor has it that Samsung may introduce a metal housing for the S5.  This could be the first time we see Samsung making a change externally for its devices.

Samsung recently releases a new series called “Round”, which is the world’s first curved smartphone.  The Note 3 recently came out as well, but the company took a lot of heat in terms of boosting benchmark results by tricks the company placed with in the software on the device.

Who’s looking forward to the S5?
