Shuffle continues, BlackBerry COO and CMO relieved of their duties

BlackBerry-Logo12:35 PM – BlackBerry continues to shake up its management.  This time, two major players have been let go at the company.  According to a new report from StreetInsider, COO Kristen Tear and CMO Frank Boulben have been told to clear out their office.

BlackBerry recently fired CEO Throsten Heins, and now the position belongs to CEO John Chen.  The company is looking for better candidates to fill the positions.  Currently, the company is appointing James Yersh to the Chief Financial Officer.

There are a lot of changes happening at BlackBerry right now.  The company’s market share stands at just 1.44%.  This is a major change from several years ago when the company was performing very well.  The failure of BlackBerry 10 has doomed the company as many analysts and investors were hoping the new software along with the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 would save the company from the current downfall.

The new BlackBerry smartphones have also been a flop.  The company’s market share continues to shrink, while Microsoft’s Windows Phone on the other hand is gaining traction.  Enterprise business is where BlackBerry still holds some ground, but its partners such as Pentagon are considering other options.

BlackBerry has already laid off thousands of its work force, and continues to lay off employees.  The board hopes that with a management shuffle and the $1 billion investment, the company can make a comeback.

Is BlackBerry too deep in the water to be saved?
