Motorola Moto X2:15 PM – On Cyber Monday, many were expecting to order the Moto X from Motorola’s website.  The company ran a promotion that offered the Moto X for just $349, out-of-contract pricing.  This is essentially a steal compared to what it cost before.  But customers ran into problems when Motorola’s Moto Maker site crashed due to overwhelming demand.

Due to this mess up, Motorola says that the company will relaunch its promotion.  The company has found the problems it ran into and is diligently working to fix everything.  Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside on Monday night issued a public apology for the mess up and provided a few statements to everyone.

CEO Dennis Woodside says:

“I want to apologize to our customers and fans for the issues we experienced on our website with our Cyber Monday promotion. I want you to understand what happened, and what we are doing to rectify the situation.”

He continues on to say:

“First, we misjudged the overwhelming consumer demand for Moto X, which was far greater than we expected.  Second, our pre-sale site testing was not sufficiently extensive. Testing failed to reveal weaknesses caused by large volumes of concurrent orders flowing through the MotoMaker customization engine.  Thus, when we opened the promotion this morning, an extraordinary spike in concurrent orders caused our website to go down. We couldn’t fulfill orders. The site became unstable. While some orders were filled, many customers tried all day to place their orders, unsuccessfully. Customers were left frustrated.”

The company will relaunch its promotion at midnight (EST) on Wednesday, December 4th.  The promotion will be available through out the entire day, and through the Motor Maker website.  After that, the offer will return on Monday, December 9th.  This gives people two chances to purchase the Moto X at the discounted price of $349.

So who’s excited?
