SamsungGalaxyS410:25 AM – Camera quality is a big deal these days when customers want to get a smartphone.  The days of carrying around a digital camera are gone, and replaced with smartphones which have top-notch cameras.  Nokia’s Lumia 1020 smartphone boasts one of the best cameras on the market right now.  Nokia made a recent sale of its headset business to Microsoft.  While Microsoft is currently owning most of the business in the Windows Phone arena, another competitor could spell trouble for it.

In a published article from ET News, Samsung has made a change in its camera and wireless division.  The company on Friday confirmed that it has decided to integrate both Mobile Communications and Digital Imaging businesses into one department.  Samsung up until now has made some decent cameras for their smartphones, however the company is now focusing more towards improving camera quality in their future phones.

”We will transplant the brand, sales networks, software competency and manufacturing competitiveness of the Wireless Business Division into the Camera Business Division, and integrate the technical know-how of the two business divisions into competency for differentiating our smartphones,” a Samsung spokesperson told ET News.

Samsung is also preparing a Windows Phone of its own.  This could potentially threaten Microsoft’s current position.  While Microsoft is going through the transition of taking over Nokia’s headset business and getting things moved, Samsung is preparing an onslaught.  The Korean giant’s massive marketing budget will help it gain market share in the Windows Phone arena.  It already own most of the Android market share.
