Lenovo embraces stock Android, buries Vibe Pure UI Android skin

In an interesting turn of events, Lenovo has decided to bury its own Vibe Pure UI Android skin. Instead, the company will embrace the use of Google’s stock Android for for its future smartphones, according to an interview from Gadgets 360 with Anuj Sharma, who is Lenovo India’s head of marketing.

Lenovo will start using Google’s stock Android first in their upcoming smartphone K8 Note. Sharma says that the move to stock Android experience is due to the high demand from customers. The company believes that using an unaltered version of Android will give their customers a better experience.

In terms of software updates, Sharma notes that future OS updates will become easier to roll out to their smartphones because the company will use stock Android.

Using stock Android brings their smartphone lineup more closer to Motorola’s devices, which Lenovo bought back in 2014. It’s already known that Motorola has been a long time user of stock Android, dating back to the original Moto X.
