Amazon now officially owns Whole Foods

Today, Amazon closes its Whole Foods acquisition, marking a whole new territory that Amazon is looking to shake up. What’s one of the first things that the company does? Starts selling Echo at Whole Foods. Starting today, Whole Foods will be an official subsidiary of Amazon.

The next time you enter Whole Foods, you will start seeing “Whole Foods + Amazon” signs everywhere. As you can tell from the ad above, Amazon is advertising “Pick of The Season,” offering both Echo Dot and full-sized Echo at a discounted price.

Amazon has also dropped the prices of Whole Foods products. If you take a look at the meats, you definitely notice a huge price cut there. For example, Atlantic salmon filets dropped from $14.99 to $9.99, and ground beef dropped from $6.99 per pound to $4.99.

The company is looking to really shake up the grocery shopping industry. This is just a start, it seems.
