New Apple TV 4K will be much more powerful than its predecessor

Developer Steve Troughton-Smith has revealed some new information in regards to the upcoming 4K Apple TV. Leaked from the iOS 11 Gold Master build, we now see some detailed specs of the upcoming Apple TV, via AppleInsider.

According to information from Troughton-Smith, Apple’s new 4K streaming box will be called Apple TV 4K, offering a three-core A10X Fusion processor, and 3GB RAM. The A10X Fusion is currently found on Apple’s 2017 iPad Pro models.

In current-gen Apple TV, we have the A8 and 2GB of RAM. This seems like a pretty significant bump for the new Apple TV. Presumably, Apple is bumping up the specs due to the extra power needed for smooth play of 4K videos. The Apple TV 4K will have 2160p native resolution, support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision. It will require a minimum of 15Mbps connection for 4K video streaming.

Apple is expected to announced its new Apple TV 4K at its scheduled event tomorrow.
