Netflix offering its bandwidth technology to airlines for better in-flight streaming

Netflix is planning to start partnering with airlines and offer them its bandwidth technology for streaming. Right now, streaming video on airlines is a struggle. According to a new report from Variety, this new initiative by Netflix will start next year as a part of an effort to get airlines to offer a better in-flight experience over Wi-Fi.

Why is Netflix offering this solution to airlines? Simply because Netflix wants its customers to have a better in-flight streaming experience when use its services. Netflix over the years has been working hard to develop better bandwidth technology for streaming video on mobile devices through unreliable cellular connections.

According to Netflix, the company’s technology could potentially save airlines up to 75 percent in bandwidth costs while offer a better internet experience to in-flight customers. Netflix has in the past partnered with several airlines such as Virgin America and Qantas to offer free Wi-Fi.
