Amazon introduces new Echo Plus that doubles down on being a smart hub

Today, Amazon is unveiling several new hardware to the world. The company took wraps off its new Echo that is not only smaller in size but packs new features too. In addition, the company also introduced us to the Echo Spot, a new smart alarm clock. Now it’s time for another new product, the Echo Plus.

The company just announced the new Echo Plus speaker. The new Echo Plus is set apart from everything else in that it is a smart home hub. It has several different wireless capabilities that allow you to setup and control connected home appliances and gadgets.

The new Echo Plus some with Amazon’s “second-generation far-field microphones,” said Dave Limp, Amazon’s senior vice president of devices. It includes the same 260-degree sound like in the previous Echo speakers, but now includes support for Dolby sound.

The newly introduced Echo Plus is expected to start shipping for price that’s less than the original Echo. The original Echo launched at a price point of $149 three years ago. It will also be available in the UK and Germany. Each box also comes with Philips Hue smart bulb.
