Facebook and Instagram experiencing outage in parts of the US and Europe

Facebook and Instagram users in certain parts of the world are experiencing outage on the platforms this morning, according to web tracker Down Detector. There have also been numerous reports on Twitter regarding the outage. Looking at the map, the outages are still going on at the time of this report.

The area experiencing the most problem appear to be West and Easy Costs of North American, and numerous parts of Europe. It seems that parts of South America and Southeast Asia are also experiencing outage.

Users that reported the problem state that they can’t access the site, while some others have said the post box is missing or other parts of the website aren’t functioning as they should. There have been over 12,000 reports on Facebook problems on Down Detector’s website.

Instagram, owned by Facebook, is also experiencing issues. There have been over 2,500 reports of problems with the platform. User state that the platform isn’t loading properly, photos can’t be uploaded, and the feed isn’t properly refreshing.

In a statement, Facebook said that “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing Facebook and Instagram. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”
