Razor may include 8GB RAM in its first smartphone

Razor is looking to get into the smartphone industry by unveiling its first smartphone in a few weeks. The “Razor Phone” could make headlines with a new nifty addition to its hardware. Spotted by Phone Radar, they picked up a listing on GFXBench for the smartphone that lists some high-end specs that could be what’s introduced in the phone in the near future.

You can expect to see the industry-standard stuff, such as a 5.7-inch display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, a Snapdragon 835 processor, single 12-megapixel rear camera, 9-megapixel front camera, and 64GB internal storage. Standard stuff, right?

Here’s the one spec that really stands out: 8GB of RAM. Most Android phones on the market right now have 3GB, 4GB, or even 6GB of RAM, but we have yet to see 8GB. This leak could potentially put Razer ahead of the competition.

The main focus for Razer is gaming, so having extra RAM in the hardware can definitely help out with that. This doesn’t mean that there will absolutely be better performance on the device than its competitors. Optimization is what matters most, like we have seen Apple do with it software and hardware.

It’s expected that the phone will run a custom version of Android on top of Nougat. The software is slightly out of date, but there will be some customizations done to the software.

The device is expected to be announced November 1st.
