Harry Potter fans rejoice! Up until now, Harry Potter movies haven’t been running on any major streaming service in the US. The movies tend to run in marathons sometimes on ABC Family, or you can just outright buy the movies.
Today is a day that Harry Potter fans can remember. Starting January 1st, 2018, all 8 of the Harry Potter movies are coming out on HBO Go and HBO Now for on-demand streaming, via Business Insider reporter Kim Renfro. HBO will be celebrating the occasion by doing a full marathon of the movies, meaning all eight films will be streaming. This also include Fantastic Beasts, just so you know.
The shift in basic cable rights of the Potter films from Disney is what brought about the change. Now owned by NBCUniversal, they will be airing the films on SyFy and USA Network starting in 2018. The option to stream on HBO isn’t surprising because Harry Potter is Warner Bros. Property, and both Warner Bros. And HBO are owned by Time Warner Cable.
If you want to start your Harry Potter marathon early, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is already on HBO’s streaming service. You can get a head start on your marathon streaming with this movie.
