Before the FCC vote to rollback the net neutrality protections, activist groups are planning protests at Verizon stores tomorrow. If you’re interested in participating or would like to know more, here are the details.
The activist groups are relying on locals to help organize those protests, meaning that there are plans to hold them at Verizon retail stores around the country. If you want to attend, the groups have releases an interactive, searchable map. There, you can also see events occurring at lawmakers’ offices. All you have to do is input your zip code to find the closest protest event to you.
Activists say that “these protests will be quick, fun, and 100% legal.” The turnout of a protest will largely depend on the area it’s being held in. For example, New York City’s protest has more than 700 RSVPs, while many others have a handful of protesters. Activists are asking organizers to “try to undertake the activities,” such as calling lawmakers, making speeches, and other details about net neutrality.
Protesters will also be rallying online with the hashtag #StopTheFCC. If you’re interested in participating, check out the map for the closest protest to you.
