Netflix gets updated to add HDR support on Windows 10

Windows 10 users can rejoice because Netflix is adding High Dynamic Range (HDR) support for both its Windows 10 app and Microsoft Edge browser. In order to take advantage of HDR on Netflix, there are some hardware requirements to keep in mind.

Netflix has hardware requirements for HDR on PC so that you can take full advantage of the feature. In order to do this, you will nee Intel’s 7th-generation or higher processors to support the HDR10 encoded content, and Intel’s integrated GPU or an Nvidia 1050 or higher. If you have an AMD GPU or even AMD CPUs, they are not currently supported. Basically, AMD users are out of luck right now.

Netflix previously added HDR support on iPhone X and Galaxy Note 8. Now the company is adding HDR support on the PC side to give a boost to the content that’s available to Windows 10 users. As HDR-enabled monitors start arriving more and more on the market, we’ll continue to see the benefits of HDR-content keep going up.
