Netflix is bringing HDR and surround sound support to the Razer Phone

The Razer Phone has caught industry watchers a bit off guard, to say the least. At CES, Razer announced that it’s entering a partnership with Netflix, making the handset the first mobile phone to offer Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound. Razer Phone is also getting HDR10 video support. This basically will bring the highest possible Netflix experience to Razer Phone users and have it fit in your pocket at the same time. Pretty convenient, right?

A quick demo clip of Stranger Things’ second season on the phone showed Steve’s hair looking very luscious and feathered. Aside from the picture, the Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound was a bit hard to accurately notice because of all the surrounding noice, but further tests in the near future will give us an idea of what it’s like to experience it on the Razer Phone.

If you’re a current Razer Phone owner, you will get the update via an over-the-air patch, and all new phones that ship from here on out will pre-installed with these features.
