If you’re interested in Apple’s HomePod smart speaker, you can now preorder it through the Apple Store app. For shipping times, it’s slated to start on February 9th. The HomePod smart speaker is priced at a premium price of $349, which is a lot higher than the current smart speakers on the market available from Amazon and Google.
Apple’s HomePod was delayed previously, and there’s some other bad news. The smart speaker will not ship with features like AirPlay 2, which allows pairing and multi room audio. Apple has said that those feature are “coming this year in a free software update.”
The HomePod is powered by Apple’s A8 chip, which first featured in the iPhone 6. It will come with feature like built-in Siri, six microphones, HomeKit support, and the ability to automatically optimize sound for any given room.
