This weekend, get $200 off Microsoft’s Surface Pro

This month, the Surface Pro is turning five years. To celebrate, Microsoft is introducing an anniversary discount of $200. Much like how the company introduced the Cyber Monday discount, the company is offering a $200 discount on the latest Surface Pro i5 models.

A Surface Pro with a Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM, and 128GB of storage will be available for $799. The Surface Pro with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage model will be priced at $1,099. Both of these discounts are temporary, and are available over this President’s Day weekend, which is February 17th to the 19th.

Surface chief Panos Panay marked the anniversary of the Surface Pro with a video of the team looking back at how Microsoft’s hybrid device has evolved over the years. Originally Microsoft started with a two pound device for the original Surface Pro, and it has a 10.6-inch display with a single angle for the kickstand. In addition, the original device was too heavy as a tablet, and was too small as a laptop that didn’t work very well when people used it in their laps.

Over the years, the device has seen many improvements, such as the Surface Pro 3 introduced a much thinner, lighter, and a bigger display with an improved aspect ratio for both laptop and tablet modes. It also included the same kickstand that’s still in use today on the latest Surface Pro, and the angle can be freely adjusted as you like.
