Starting next year, PlayStation Plus won’t include free PS3 and Vita games

There are some changes coming for PlayStation subscribers. Starting March of 2019, Sony is making a change to its Instant Game Collection. With your monthly Instant Game Collection, you will not longer get titles for PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita. If you already have the games downloaded previously, they will not be removed.

According to a post on the PS Blog, “Your game saves and other benefits of PS Plus will also remain the same — the only change is that no new PS4 and PS Vita games will be added to the PS Plus monthly games lineup beyond March 8th, 2019.” Sony originally started PlayStation’s Instant Game Collection promo for PS+ back in 2010, and in 2014, it began to offer games for each platform.

While removing PS3 and Vita games won’t upset too many people starting next year, at least Sony is giving everyone a heads up as to what it plans to do. Sony says its reasoning behind the change is because the PS4 install base has grown exponentially and that “most” of its fans are playing on the PS4, not the PS3 or Vita.
