Elon Musk just provided an update the plan for The Boring Company. He says that he’s reworking the company’s mission to help prioritize pedestrians and cyclists. The shuttle (which can be seen in first Boring Company video) will carry people and bikes.

Details aren’t very clear at this time, and we don’t know how much of this was worked out in advanced vs. how much Musk is showing off on Twitter right now. Though, he did say that the plan is to have all the company’s underground transports carry cars, their original focus, but only after “all personalized mass transit needs are met.” Musk added that the loop network would have “1000’s of small stations the size of a single parking space.”
Musk has taken a lot of criticism from public transit advocates for his statement where he mocked forms of public transportation, calling it a “pain in the ass” and adding that no one wants to be so close to one another, as required on trains and buses. Musk’s boring company continues to show progress as it’s already digging a tunnel under Los Angeles, and recently got approved to dig under Washington, DC.
