Report: Apple working on a ‘foldable’ iPhone due for 2020 release

If you’re willing to accept a latest rumor regarding Apple’s 2020 release of an iPhone, then we have some interesting news to share with you. Over the year’s, Apple hasn’t made too many changes to its iPhone design, at least not until we met the iPhone X.

A Merrill Lynch analyst told clients that “our checks suggest that Apple is working with suppliers on a foldable phone (that potentially could double up as a tablet) for launch in 2020,” reports CNBC. While there are a lot of reasons to doubt this rumor because financial analysts are normally self-interested, there are supplier reports that add some reliability to the claim.

Apple is reportedly working with LG, one of the few companies that has properly demonstrated and could manufacture a bendable screen. Not only that, Apple last year filed a patent application for “an electronic device [that] may have a flexible portion that allows [it] to be folded.”

When you take a look at the iPhone X, you can tell that Apple is willing to work and experiment with the phone design, so the company working on a bendable phone isn’t completely out of the question. A foldable screen could allow for a hybrid-use where you could use it as a phone and a tablet. For now, you could just take this rumor as a grain of salt. What are your thoughts?
