We know that Apple Music is reportedly growing aster than Spotify in the US by adding five percent to its subscriber base each month, compared to Spotify’s two percent growth rate. Now, Apple Music has hit a new milestone: 40 million subscribers, according to a report from Variety.
In addition to reaching that milestone, the company has announced that long-time Apple executive Oliver Schusser will be taking over as Vice President of Apple Music and International Content. He will be reporting directly to Eddy Cue, who had hired Schusser 14 years ago.
Variety‘s sources say that Schusser will move from London to California to take over the new role and split his time between Apple’s offices in Culver City and Cupertino. Previously, Schusser has worked on projects like iBooks, Apple Podcasts, iTunes movies and TV and Apple Store, as Variety notes.
For Schusser’s role, Tracey Hannelly will take over the position and lead Apple Music International. Variety‘s sources say that the new promotions will have no impact on Jimmy Iovine’s standing in the company.
