Meet the Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro, the smartphone that can’t connect to the internet

If you’re hoping for a smartphone that won’t connect to the internet and not rack up a big mobile data bill, then you’re in luck. Samsung is hoping to attract those people that are interested in this type of smartphone. Meet the Galaxy J2 Pro, the smartphone that will ship without the capability to access 3G, LTE and WiFi.

The Galaxy J2 Pro is essentially a low-end Android smartphone that has all of the data modems ripped out. This is essentially perfect for kids, seniors and those that just want to have a smartphone without data capabilities. Samsung is offering a refund to South Korean school students aged 18 to 21 until June 30th because of the country’s college admissions exams. If you put down the money for one of these phones before an exam, you’ll get your money back afterwards.

In terms of specs, the smartphone has decent mid-range options, with a 1.4GHz quad-core chip that’s paired with 1.5GB RAM and 2,600mAh battery. The qHD Super AMOLED display comes out to 4.9-inches, and there is a 8-megapixel lens on the back as well as a 5-megapixel camera for the front.

The Galaxy J2 Pro will only be made available in South Korea, for now, but it’s likely that the smartphone maker will expand the reach for more sales. It will be priced at 199,100 Korean Won ($185) and comes in black or gold color options.
