At MWC 2019, McAfee announced they are extending their partnership with Samsung. The anti-virus company’s McAfee VirusScan will come pre-installed on the Samsung Galaxy S10.
This isn’t the first time we’re seeing the two companies work together. Both Samsung and McAfee previously partnered to pre-install “anti-malware protection powered by McAfee VirusScan” on the Galaxy S8. Things went fairly smoothly that Samsung and McAfee decided to extend the security application to cover the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy Note 5. In terms of availability, it depended on the market.
In addition to having McAfee VirusScan on board, the Galaxy S10 will come with Samsung Secure Wi-Fi service, for which McAfee is set to provide the backend infrastructure. The service attempts to safeguard sensitive information with encryption, reducing the security threats associated with using unprotected public and private WiFi networks.
Secure Wi-Fi service is provided in the United States for U.S. Cellular and T-Mobile customers, and in select markets in Europe. Samsung provides 250MB of free monthly data, and premium options for customers to purchase unlimited daily or monthly bandwidth options.
