While carriers such as AT&T and Verizon work hard in the United States to expand their LTE network, EE in the UK has been busy expanding their own 4G LTE network. The carrier recently flipped the switch on their 4G LTE network in 12 new towns.
The new towns that EE network now supports are:
- Ashby-de-la-Zouch
- Beaconsfield
- Blackburn
- Burton upon Trent
- Coalville
- Chester-le-Street
- Fleet
- Gerrards Cross
- Halifax
- Hinckley
- Houghton-le-Spring
- Reigate
EE claims that it is covering 60 percent of UK with its network. About 11 months ago, the company launched its 4G LTE network and has been hard at work expending as fast as possible. The company earlier this year stated that they plan to cover a minimum 70 percent of the population before the end of 2013. After completing expansion, EE plans to increase the capacity and performance of its LTE service with carrier aggregation, and that it’ll also start investing in new services like voice over LTE (VoLTE).
This brings their coverage to 117 markets. While the company is hard at work expanding, it will be facing a lot of competition from its rivals. Other carriers such as Vodafone and O2 have launched their own 4G networks. Three will also be launching its network at no additional cost to its customers.
