Ever since Apple unveiled the two iPhones, consumers have been eager to get their hands on the headsets. Most people are wanting to get their hands on the 5s than the 5c. Earlier, Apple announced that the company sold a record 9 million iPhones on opening weekend. The company, however did not reveal how it was split between the two smartphones. Early indicators showed us that the iPhone 5s is in much more demand than 5c.
According to a new report from Localytics, we may get a better of how sales were split. In the report, we see that the iPhone 5s is outselling the iPhone 5c by a huge margin. Data from Localytics is from more than 20 million unique iPhone handsets being used in the U.S. between September 20th and September 26th.
Early adopters in the week have shown that the iPhone 5s appearing on its network was outpacing the iPhone 5c by a ratio of about 3.4 to 1. However later on in the week by Thursday, the ratio evened to 2.9 to 1. This is still quite the big difference between the two headsets. There is a big difference between the two iPhones. The iPhone 5s includes latest technology from Apple such as the Touch ID, while in the iPhone 5c, it’s last year’s model in a new shell with minimal upgrades.
Lastly, Localytics looked at the biggest 12 cities in United States and found that the two smartphones made up the largest percentage of total iPhones in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Most of the iPhones were on the big two, AT&T and Verizon, while the remaining were on Sprint and T-Mobile.
