2:30 PM – Recent speculation suggested that current CEO of Ford Alan Mulally may consider moving to Microsoft to help the company. He is considered to be a very strong candidate for the job, and due to his past history, he has done a great job with Ford.
According to a new report from Bloomberg, it appears that things may have changed in the race to select the next CEO. It seems that Mulally will be staying at Ford until at least 2014, according to a statement from Ford company director Edsel Ford II. Top candidates for the CEO job were either Mulally and Elop. There has been a lot of negativity towards Elop in Microsoft, so it was believed that he was already dropping out of the race, but that might not be the case anymore.
Ford in his statement goes on to say that the board of directors have not pushed Mulally to give a public statement. The assumption by the board is that Mulally will be staying with the company for at least another year.
Even though Mulally may be out of the race for now, we shouldn’t count him out completely just yet. Other people in the race for the CEO position include former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, former Skype boss Tony Bates and Microsoft’s cloud and enterprise boss Satya Nadella.
