Great news for the Music lovers and Spotify users. One of the most successful commercial music streaming company is going to make mobile music streaming free. Now, a user has to pay to listen a specific song or a song from a playlist on mobile version. With no premium account you can only choose a song and on basis of this genre Spotify will create a radio playlist. Currently, you can listen to songs, without premium account, from a database of 20 million songs only on laptop and desktops.
Whats in there for a music lover?
This mobile version of Spotify will be ad-supported version. “The new ad-supported offering will allow nonpaying mobile users to play a limited number of songs on demand, but will mostly serve up music based on the user’s input, much like custom radio services such as Pandora Media Inc,” The Wall street Journal Reports. Spotify is negotiating with 3 major record companies to allow there content to be made free on the mobile application.
On positive note
I think this a great initiative by Spotify. This will benefit both provider and user. In terms of user, even its a limited at some level, he can listen most of the songs he wants . Looking in terms of Spotify it has a great opportunity to convert its potential no premium customers to premium. This will most probably work as user dont care about ad, personally me too, as long as he gets what he wants. This is model is also implemented in apple store also. Now, many of the app store applications are ad-supported but free which is always good in terms of user.
The free Spotify ad-supported version is surely a great news for music lover.
