12:15 PM – In a press release this morning, Apple has announced that it will make the new fully-redesigned Mac Pro available to everyone starting tomorrow. If you’ve been waiting for Apple to make the Mac Pro available for you to purchase, starting tomorrow, you will be able to. This move comes at perfect times as Christmas is just upon us. While this machine is quite expensive and starts at $3,000, it can still be made as a great gift.
Apple’s new Mac Pro packs quite the guts in terms of pure power. For starters, it has enough power to drive up to three 4K displays or six thunderbolt displays, thanks to the dual AMD FirePro graphics chips with up to 6GB of VRAM. The base model of the Mac Pro starts at $3,000 but it still packs quite a lot under the hood at that price. Of course Apple has made customization easy for those looking to add more power to it.
Here’s what Tim Cook had to say on his Twitter:
We have begun manufacturing the Mac Pro in Austin. It’s the most powerful Mac ever. Orders start tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/Jrd1Gic3Ya

Now moving onto more in-depth details of the Mac Pro…
The base model comes with 3.7 GHz Quad-core Intel Xeon E5 with 10MB L3 cache and Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz. It is configurable up to 3.5GHz 6-core processor with 12MB L3 cache, 3.0GHz 8-core processor with 25MB L3 cache, or 2.7GHz 12-core processor with 30MB L3 cache. It comes with 12GB (three 4GB) of 1866MHz DDR3 ECC memory that is configurable to 16GB (four 4GB), 32GB (four 8GB) or 64GB (four 16GB). For graphics processing, it has the previously stated dual AMD FirePro D300 graphics processors with 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM each and is configurable to dual AMD FirePro D500, each with 3GB GDDR5 VRAM or dual AMD FirePro D700, each with 6GB of GDDR5 VRAM.
Now for the upper model, which starts at $3,999 packs even more power. It comes with 3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5 with 12MB L3 cache and Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz. Processing power is configurable to 3.0GHz 8-core processor with 25MB L3 cache or 2.7GHz 12-core processor with 30MB L3 cache. For RAM power, it comes with 16GB (four 4GB) of 1866MHz DDR3 ECC memory that is configurable to 32GB (four 8GB) or 64GB (four 16GB). For graphics power, baseline, it has Dual AMD FirePro D500 graphics processors with 3GB of GDDR5 VRAM each, and configurable to dual AMD FirePro D700, each with 6GB of GDDR5 VRAM.
Storage wise, both come with base 256GB PCIe-based flash storage that is configurable to 512GB or 1TB. You can also add your own storage of course with an external hard drive if you wish. There’s also other solutions such as DropBox that can be used for storage so you don’t have to always use your Mac Pro’s storage space.
