10:15 AM – Samsung’s upcoming smartphone, the Galaxy S5 is turning out to be quite the phone. First, we heard rumors of the company introducing a beautiful yet powerful industry-leading quad HD (2,560 x 1,440-pixel) display. The second is the company introducing eye scanning technology to provide better security for their customers. Currently, fingerprint sensor technology runs through a few smartphones in the market, such as the iPhone 5s. Samsung does not have any smartphone in the market with fingerprint sensor technology, so it seems the company is looking to take a step ahead into a different arena.
According to a new report from Korean-language IT Today (via SamMobile), Samsung may introduce yet another killer feature in the Galaxy S5. The company may look to bring next-generation 64-bit Samsung Exynos processor to it’s smartphone, paired up with 4GB of low-power DDR4 RAM. This is the first time we will get to see a smartphone hosting more than 3GB RAM. So far, we have seen smartphones with 1GB, 2GB and 3GB RAM, but now with 64-bit processing power, the company will look to introduce a higher level of RAM.
On Monday, Samsung also unveiled that they will start producing 20-nanometer RAM chips. The new RAM chips offer 50% better performance than LPDDR3 RAM while consuming 40% less power. This is a great step forward for the Korean giant as the smartphone market war becomes hotter by the day. In the press release, Samsung said that the chips will target “large screen UHD smartphones, tablets and ultra-slim notebooks that offer four times the resolution of full-HD imaging, and also on high-performance network systems.”
Aside from these three killer features, the S5 is expected to have 16-megapixel camera, 4,000 mAh battery, and Android KitKat 4.4. Rumors also have it that Samsung will introduce a new metal casing for the S5, along side a plastic version.
The S5 looks to be a real beast when compared against other smartphones. What are your thoughts?
