4:30 PM – Motorola’s introduction of the Moto X and Moto G have drawn interest. The Moto X with its customizable options, and the Moto G with being very cheap off-contract at the price of $179. The Moto G normally comes in a GSM variant where it will run on networks like AT&T and T-Mobile, however it would not run on networks like Verizon. Now, according to a new report from The Los Angeles Times, the Moto G is headed to Verizon.
Through Best Buy, the Moto G will be sold off-contract for Verizon. Here’s the interesting twist. Motorola normally sells the Moto G for $179 price tag, however in this new offer from Best Buy for Verizon, you can purchase it for only $99.99. That is a serious price cut from the already cheap price of $179. The Moto G has impressed users, however it lacks on major feature, LTE. Moto G’s older brother, the Moto X of course has LTE networking option.
Best Buy spokesman Jonathan Sandler told The LA Times that “the phone is currently landing in stores and is available for sale as soon as it arrives.” Verizon has not commented about this, nor do we know if this is a Best Buy exclusive option.
Verizon’s 3G network isn’t the best, so it’s yet to be seen how well the Moto G will perform on its slower network. The company holds the nation’s largest 4G LTE network, with AT&T right behind it. The Moto G is a solid option for those not looking to spend too much on a smartphone and want to stay away from contracts.
