We already know that iPhone 8 will be quite hard to find on launch. Even if you submit your order soon as the pre-orders go live, there’s a chance it may not go through in time to reserve yourself an iPhone 8. Needless to say, this will and already is upsetting a lot of people.
Don’t worry though, according to a new report sent out by two BlueFin analysts say that Apple will give a “massive” production boost to iPhone 8 in the fourth quarter of 2017. The note by John Donavan and Steve Mullane was shared by Barron’s. In the note, without citing any sources stated that Apple “will probably have its contract manufacturers build 53 million iPhones in total in the company’s September-ending fiscal Q4, with perhaps only 5 or 6 million being the iPhone X.”
The analysts state that “According to our estimates, build plans for the balance of 2017 and for all of 2018 are at record levels.”
Since Apple will be giving a big boost to the iPhone 8, the remaining units will be a mix of iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. The two analysts also predict that in the three-month quarter that ends in December, Apple could speed up production to bring as many as 44 million additional iPhone 8 units to the market. 30 million of those will be produced in the quarters after.
The two analysts believe that the “fingerprint sensing will not be included at launch.” This of course will upset a lot of people, but Apple may cover their ground soon after.
