HBO has gotten itself in a hot mess as of late. Less than a day ago, the sixth season of Game of Thrones leaked online. Now the company’s week just got even worse when the hacker group OurMine took control of both Twitter and Facebook social media accounts.
Once OurMine took control, the hacker group sent out a message on HBO’s official Twitter and Facebook accounts, as well as from other affiliated accounts, that they need to beef up their security.
HBO is coming off this hack after a series of hacking incidents, including the theft of 1.5TB of data from the coming, intentional leak of unreleased episodes for shows like Game of Thrones.
According to NBC News, HBO was able to regain control of its social accounts and delete the tweets within 40 minutes. HBO told NBC that “we are investigating.” HBO has yet to release any further information regarding this incident.
Here’s one of the tweets (that has been since-removed):
