With all the excitement around Galaxy Note 8, yesterday Samsung finally took the wraps off its highly anticipated smartphone. With that now past, it’s time to turn out attention to Google and its Pixel phones.
According to notorious leaker Evan Blass, he tweeted that “Google’s second-generation Pixel handsets, powered by Snapdragon 836 SoC’s, will be unveiled on October 5th.” It seems that Google is repeating its original Pixel strategy used during its first Pixel phones launch.

The 2016 Pixel phones came with Snapdragon 801, which is a slightly modified version of the 820 chip. This time around, the new Pixels will use Snapdragon 836 which are far better than the current 835 chips. Fudzilla first reported this a month ago. The 836 SOC is said to have a higher maximum speeds for both CPU and GPU. This no doubt will bring performance enhancements for the new Pixel phones.
When Google first launched the Pixel phones last year, they was limited availability. We’re hoping that Google doesn’t repeat the same mistake, especially since for their UK distribution, the company opted for exclusive rights to carrier EE. Google struggled to meet Pixel XL demand for many months last year. Here’s to hoping Google handles things differently with the 2017 Pixel phones.
