After nearly two months of searching for a new CEO, Uber board of directors have picked Dara Khosrowshahi to be the new CEO, according to both Recode and New York Times. Khosrowshahi will now fill the spot that has been vacated by Travis Kalanick back in June.
Prior to choosing Khosrowshahi, Uber board of directors met through the weekend, and were making their choice between Khosrowshahi and Hewlett Packard Enterprise CEO Meg Whitman.
According to Recode, an official statement by Uber will be made sometime today.
Dara Khosrowshahi comes to Uber after seeing incredible success at Expedia. He helped raise Expedia’s revenue from $15 billion in bookings to $72 billion last year. Of course, the company has paid him very generously for all that he has accomplished.
Hopefully Dara Khosrowshahi coming into Uber will help the company turn around. While Uber is still operating well and is turning a profit, the company has a lot of restructuring to do. The company has struggled a lot from many different perspectives including financial, as well as from female community.
