Apple issued its first comment to the FCC’s proposed roll back of net neutrality rules, stating that Apple wants the agency to keep “strong enforceable open internet protections.”
Signed by Vice President of Public Policy Cynthia Hogan, she says that “We work hard to build great products, and what consumers do with those tools is up to them — not Apple, and not broadband providers.”
The comment essentially is telling the FCC that having protections for consumers is incredibly important. For example, paid fast lines should not replace “content-neutral transmission of internet traffic,” the company states.
Apple in its comment also suggests that there needs to be more competition and better transparency in the broadband market. Talking about current rules, Apple says that the current rules reflect open internet principles and that these rules “should form the foundation of any net neutrality framework going forward.”
