It seems that Samsung is somewhat afraid of its upcoming competition — iPhone 8. The company is looking to do everything in its power to release the Galaxy S9 early. We expected the S9 to be announced around MWC 2018, but according to The Investor, they say that Samsung has other plans in the works.
The Investor, quoting The Bell, say that Samsung could potentially bring the S9 to the market as early as January of next year. Samsung apparently pushed the S9 date forward to “defend” against the upcoming iPhone 8.
Samsung Display will reportedly start shipping OLED panels for the new Galaxy S9 in November, two months earlier than expected.
Samsung seems to be already afraid of iPhone 8 even though it just released the Galaxy Note 8. It’s not surprising that the company is already looking to release the S9 as fast as possible. If these reports hold true, we could see the Galaxy S9 as soon as January 2018.
