After shrinking last year’s GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card into a mini-ITX version, Engadget spotted that Gigabyte has also done the same to the GTX 1080 graphics card. Introduced by Gigabyte as GeForce GTX 1080 Mini ITX 8G, the graphics card brings quite to the table in terms of losing some length.
Gigabyte’s GeForce GTX 1080 Mini ITX 8G comes in at just 6/7-inches long, nearly 5-inches shorter than the regular GTX 1080. The goal for the shrunk-down graphics card is so that they can fit into more mini-ITX cases, and give a better portable desktop experience.
On the graphics card, Gigabyte is using a single 90mm fan for cooling, and is semi-passive, which means it will turn off when the GTX 1080 isn’t under a lot of stress. It’s also paired with three copper composite heating pipes. If you want to over-clock the 1080, you can definitely do that with Gigabyte’s own software.
Now we await a smaller version of the GTX 1080 Ti by Gigabyte and then we’ll really put it to the test.
