Netflix yet again is raising prices of its service for US subscribers, according to a report from Mashable. The company is raining pricing for two its tiers, beginning next month. The standard tier pricing will go from $9.99 to $10.99, and the premium tier pricing will go from $11.99 to $13.99.
The standard tier allows subscribers to watch on two screen simultaneously. The premium tier is available in Ultra HD and allow for up to four screens simultaneously. The Basic package will remain at $7.99 price point, for now.
In a statement to The Jolt Journal, Netflix spokesperson said that “From time to time, Netflix plans and pricing are adjusted as we add more exclusive TV shows and movies, introduce new product features and improve the overall Netflix experience to help members find something great to watch even faster.”
Small but steady price increases for services like Netflix are expected and given. Seeing as the company is constantly investing in acquiring new streaming shows and movies for viewers, it makes sense for the company to increase pricing to continue future investments.
Last time, in 2015, Netflix bumped up the pricing of the standard tier from $8.99 to $9.99. This summer, Canadian Netflix subscribers saw increase in pricing for both basic and standard tiers go up by one dollar, to $8.99 and $10.99. Netflix even committed to invest at least $400 million in permanent Canadian production presence.
