Apple earlier this month announced their 3rd-party adapter trade in program where customers can trade-in their 3rd-party adapters. The program first launched in China and customers have been fully taking advantage of the opportunity. You can take your 3rd-party adapter and for the discounted price of $10, you can get a genuine built adapter.
This is a good initiative from the company to recycle the old adapter and replacing them with company approved adapters. With recent electrocution of a customer, and then an iPhone exploding, Apple seems to be taking the necessary steps to make sure those things don’t happen again.
The company has now launched the program in total of 30 countries. Here is a list of countries now supporting the program (via 9to5Mac):
The program is only running for a limited time, so get yourself a new adapter at the discounted price before October 18, 2013.
