Samsung is looking to get into the smartwatch market with their upcoming Galaxy Gear. Recent reports have suggested that the company is looking to debut the smartwatch next month on September 4 in a press conference. In a new report by Om Malik of GigaOM, we see some in-depth details of the new Galaxy Gear.
Malik claims to have dug up some specs of the upcoming Galaxy Gear from developer sources. According to the report, the Samsung Galaxy Gear will feature a 2.5-inch OLED touchscreen display, Samsung Exynos 4212 dual core 1.5GHz, pretty “decent” battery life, a camera integrated with in the strap and speakers that are embedded in the device’s strap, an accelerometer, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC support, gesture support and based on Android 4.1 software.
Samsung is looking to make apps available for customers through its own app store, slowly moving away from the Google Play Store. The debut for Galaxy Gear will be next month, however, availability the device will be sometime in October.
