GameStop starting an unlimited used game rental subscription service

The Jolt Journal (https://www.joltjournal.com)

GameStop is starting a new service that lets customers rent a used game from the gaming retailer. In this new unlimited used game rental service, you will be able to play as much as you want, return it, and check out another title as often as you want, according to a leaked magazine ad spotted by user Virtua on the ResetEra gaming forum (via Polygon).

The new program is called Power Pass. It costs $60 for six months, and allows customers to borrow any used game the retailer has to offer in its collection. As a bonus, at the end of the six-month period, you get to keep the last title you borrow.

GameStop has not confirmed the existence of this program, but it’s only a matter of time before the gaming retailer makes an official announcement. According to the ad, you will be able to sign up for the program starting November 19th. So you can expect an official announcement in the coming weeks.

There are two catches, however. The first catch here is that you have to be a member of GameStop’s PowerUp Rewards program in order to sign up for this service. The second catch is that you will be limited to renting whatever used games you want from your local GameStop. If there’s a used game that you want and no local GameStop offers it, you will most likely not be able to rent it.
