Microsoft had been conducting tests earlier this year in regards to bringing a nifty new feature that would allow gamers to gift games to others. After extensive testing, Microsoft has now rolled out the game gifting feature to all Xbox One owners.
This rollout is just in time for the holiday season. Gift purchases can be made through the Microsoft Store where it will allow friends to buy games for others regardless of regions. Right now, Microsoft has only added support for new game purchases and has not enabled transferring existing digital games to someone else.
Game gifting has been a highly-requested feature among Xbox fans. While Microsoft has brought this feature for Xbox One owners, Sony still does not support game gifting on the PlayStation 4. Valve on the other hand has offered Steam Gifts feature and has had it for quite some time now.
If you’re an Xbox One owner and your sibling or friend is getting an Xbox One as a holiday gift, you can gift them a game they’ve been wanting. Give it a try and see what you think of the feature.
