If you don’t have a 64-bit operating system, you may want to upgrade very soon. NVIDIA has announced that Version 390 of its graphics card driver would be the last to support 32-bit Windows, FreeBSD and Linux systems. This really shouldn’t come as a surprise, to say the least.
64-bit systems have become the norm these days, but there are still a lot of organizations and individuals that are still using old legacy machines. Perhaps they must run old 16-bit or 32-bit applications that don’t support 64-bit systems.
While at times you don’t have a choice but to run on old systems, there are several drawbacks. Running older operating systems typically means you’re using a less secure version of the operating system, thus being more prone to hacks and exploitation.
If you’re using a 32-bit system and use NVIDIA graphics drivers, you might want to upgrade as soon as possible. Change may be scary, but as times move on, systems should be kept well up-to-date. This goes without saying, frankly.
