Amazon announces that it shipped over 5 billion items with Prime in 2017

Amazon has given us some stats for how well it did in 2017. According to a report from Business Wire, the company announced today that Prime members shipped over 5 billion items using the premium service this year. As you’d expect, Amazon also gave some additional information as to what products were the most popular.

Out of the manufacturers and categories, Amazon said that Fire TV Stick and Echo Dot were among the best-selling products purchased by Prime members in the United States. The most trendy product was the Instant Pot that was the most gifted item on Amazon’s Wedding Registry, as well as the most Wish Listed item. Lastly, the Instant Pot Cookbook was the book that Prime members gifted all year long.

Aside from shipping, Amazon did quite a number of other things to improve its Prime membership. For example, the company added more content to its video service and reserving early film screenings for members. Amazon’s video service snagged three Golden Globe nominations at this weekend’s award ceremony. The company in October even allowed college kids to subscribe to Prime on a month-to-month basis.
