The release of 5G is upon us because wireless carriers are making some heavy progress for 5G network. US wireless carrier AT&T has announced that it plans to roll out a true 5G network in a dozen markets in accordance with the 3GPP’s 5G NR (new radio) guidelines by the end of 2018.
AT&T is making some good progress to releasing a true 5G network. The company has already announced its so-called “5G Evolution” network last year, which pretty much consists of AT&T rebranding existing LTE technologies that many competitors have already adopted.
Currently, there aren’t too many details as to what this new 5G network will entail, beyond the fact that the new 5G network will be based on the newly accepted industry standard for the network. You can, of course, expect to see a jump in network speeds, and other details will be released later like roll out locations, what devices it will work on, and other important details.
In addition to introducing a true 5G network, AT&T has said that the company will continue to work on expanding its LTE and 5G Evolution networks over 2018 as it continues to work on introducing newer technology. AT&T is the last of the four major carriers to announced a vague 5G network rollout plan.
