When you’re able to answer calls and text messages directly from your computer, it’s definitely a huge convenience because you don’t have to pick up your phone. For example, Mac users for a long time have enjoyed being able to answer calls and texts directly from their computer through software integrations.
Dell is about to bring a similar feature to its PCs in the near future. The company has created an app called Mobile Connect that will let you have similar functionality and plans to ship the app on most of its new PCs. The app will sync calls and notifications, let you response to them from your PC, and when you’re connected to an Android phone, you can mirror the screen completely and give you the ability to navigate apps directly from your computer. Pretty neat, huh?
What’s more interesting is that Dell says it will also sync calls and messages from iPhones, knowing that Apple has a locked-down natured software. While there are some doubts, Dell said that it will work with iOS, and if it proves to be true and works well, this will be a huge advantage for Dell.
Right now, many of these features are available to Windows users, but only through Cortana, and aren’t displayed in a fashion like Dell demoed it at CES. If Dell is able to bring this feature to the masses and it becomes a success, it will definitely be a great thing for computers’ usability and make it easier to navigate and multitask.
