Apple may have promised to replace old iPhone batteries for $29 in light of the whole slowdown debacle, but it appears that for those of you who own an iPhone 6 Plus, you’ll have to wait a bit longer.
According to internal documents reviewed by MacRumors, Apple will not have batteries for the iPhone 6 Plus until late March to early April, unfortunately. Wait-times right now have been fluctuating for Apple as the company adapts to the unexpected increase in demand for battery replacements. The $29 battery replacement offer was made in December, and the company said the batteries would be available in late January before updating timeframe to “right away.”
According to internal documents distributed to Apple stores and authorized service providers, per MacRumors’ write-up, wait-times will be “approximately two weeks” for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s Plus; a late March to early April date for the iPhone 6 Plus; and batteries for the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPhone SE will be “available without extended delays,” which are the words directly coming from Apple.
While some customers may have to wait more than others, it’s at least assuring that everyone will be getting a battery replacement, even if it means waiting extra time.
