Apple is expected to unveil their next iPhone 5S on September 10, but instead of the 5S being alone, the company will reportedly be bringing a low-cost iPhone, called the iPhone 5C. The iPhone 5C will play a major role in emerging markets such as India and China were low-cost smartphone with top notch hardware are currently dominating the market.
According to First Financial Daily, the Chinese business paper, states that China will not be getting either of the iPhone’s until three months later after launch. This means the Chinese market will not get the two iPhone’s until November.
The reason is because of the rigorous process of the smartphones by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in China. The regulators seem to be taking a lot of time to inspect the devices inside out, to make sure everything works perfectly. While this is a good process that benefits the consumers, it’s not good for the company as it delays product launch. Apple’s iPhone has been a big part of their business, bringing in the most amount of profits.
As for pricing, according to First Financial Daily, the Apple iPhone 5S will be priced at 5,599 yuan ($915 USD) and the Apple iPhone 5C will cost 3,399 yuan ($555 USD).
Another rumor suggests that Apple has inked a deal with China Mobile. This is very crucial for the Cupertino giant needs to regain market share in the double digits. Currently, it’s sitting at under 5%. With the release of the iPhone 5C especially, the low-cost smartphone should help the company gain their market share.
